Saakshar Bharat Yatra, 2012

Bhubaneswar: The Saakshar Bharat Yatra, an innovative step towards creating awareness on literacy, was inagurated by Honorable President Smt. Prativa Singh Patil at Rastrapati Bhaban on February 18.

The Yatra will cover 180 districts in 22 states (including Panchayat and State capital). BGVS Odisha is arranging a seminar on 21st February, 2012 including Director Mass Education ODISHA, Director SRC, Representatives of ZSS’s of the concerned districts (Bolangir, Kalahandi, Sundargarh), Director of the JSS’s song and Drama division, N. G. O’s and Acedemicians to make the campaign successful in Odisha. Eminent scientist and Founder President BGVS Mr. M.P Parameswar will join as chief guest.

The Saakshar Yatra in Odisha will start from Vedavyas (RKL) on 3rd March and after covering Bolangir, Kalahandi and Sundargarh it will leave Odisha on 9th March, 2012.

Another major attraction of this yatra is Kalajatha (Cultural caravan) a group of 15-20 activists who perform song, dance, drama in folk or classical dance form.

After covering all the 22 states the yatra will come to an end on March 24-25 at New Delhi.
